Default Redhat 8.0 (Psyche) is out | comments?

It's out people!

"Hang on to your hat!"
https://www.redhat.com/download/mirror.html
http://freshrpms.net/mirrors/psyche.html

Note that XMMS is NOT included in this release because of patents and licenses. You can grab the patch for 8.0 at
http://www.gurulabs.com/downloads.html
You can use the xmms mp3 plugin, but you have to understand that you will be violating the GPL (who cares?)

Support for cards other than Nvidia's
http://dri.sourceforge.net/

<mharris> The Radeon 8500 is supported by the currently in development r200 branch of CVS.

...So any card up to 7500 is supported and 8500 is being worked on

You can chat with Mike Harris at card.freenode.net #redhat
(very interesting discussions there, so feel free to pop-in)

I installed it w/o a hitch, didn't customize or go thru it yet...had to run to my night class...
So far I like Bluecurve, and everything works that I've tried, sound, network, 2D @ 1600x1200, and all my mounts...
Gonna try Printer, scanner, and wine later this week..any one know of a good wine help site, or would like to share their wine config file? I get how to do the drives, but after that, I'm lost...

Will do it as soon as I install my copy. I have to move everything from my windows partition to another drive so it might take me 2 days or so

Would you all recommend Redhat8 or Mandrake 9 for a first time user? I got my WD 120gb HDD in last weekend, and have a 20 gig partition with Linux's name on it, now I just need to decide which distro is the best.

I've got to play with it a while now, and it's pretty stable...and quite good.

The only thing I didn't like is some of the programs anaconda installed didn't show up in the start menu, like LICQ...but I just made a desktop shortcut, and it's all good!
