After playing the demo for about 30 hours i want this game so bad i think i'm gonna cry.
But this 40 MB trailer showing off some really cool stuff made me feel better. If you haven't seen it, please do! It's awesome.

After downloaded water fix and I started the new game again with Hard skill. Impressed with water reflections as well as shark and jeep are in the game as well as other stuffs like barrels etc. Then the AI took me completely surprised, AI are actually getting more smarter than ever when bad guys get any sighting of me in the range, they will run after me and kill me and ever threw generades at me, I am surprised the bad guys now have generades! Without the water fix, the bad guys do not have generades. Somehow the water fix triggered AI to be much more smarter and deadly, now with Hard skill now look more like Die Harder skill.

Thumbs up Well....

I got FarCry working great on GF3 at 800 x 600, 32 bit color, everything set low except texture at medium. What I had to do was update 42.01 dets to 53.03 Forceware and that worked. Looks awesome

Weird thing tho, upgrading to 53.03 drivers caused about a 1000 point drop in 3D Mark 2001 SE (From about 9475 to 8375 or so). I have AA/AF off, so not sure whats going on. Dont really care too much as will have a GFFX 5900 installed in a few days. I'm pretty sure that will increase the benchmark scores

When I try running FarCry at any resolution below 800x600, I get screen corruption. It looks like every second frame the camera is facing in the opposite direction, or part of the terrain is not drawn. I have a FX5800 and the 53.03 driver. Resolutions at and above 800x600 work fine.

Here's what it looks like when I jump out of the boat and look at it.

This is as far as I could get the car. Sure is no warthog.

EDIT: Notice my extreme low health is due to injuries sustained while trying to take a nice photo. Mental note to self: Don't try to alight vehicle while parked on a cliff.

The reflection thing is cool... but drops FPS a little too much, and the reflections look blocky when you are close to them.. i will leave this off for now, but it's still cool

Going to try some of these other commands.. cel shading sounds great! as does the realistic effect.. i think this will look kinda like it does when you get hurt and the red fades a bit.. it looks really desaturated and much more realistic. Sun reflection will also be cool.. shouldn't drop FPS like the full reflection, but add something nice which one expects to see in a tropical island environment and the water refractions one sounds cool too. gotta try all of these, cept this one:

terrain lod is great.. i'm hoping there is a similar thing for texture detail, as sometimes when you go over around 30-50m away from a tree or something it goes minimal detail, but it still a bit too close to make it not that noticable.. and stands out like a sore thumb. I know this will take performance.. but for th future when i upgrade (much later in the year) it would be a nice option to have. An example of how bad it is would be the furtherest west inlet thing.. stang on East side of the river and look at the west.. the ground texture is very low detail and the trees look quite blocky, yet they are way to close and you really notice it.

Anyway, here is i comparison of terrain level of detail:

I'm running nice and fluid at 1024, 4X FSAA, no Aniso, Auto detect settings. My 9800 Pro is 128 and it is handling the game fine. Game does take a lot of ram, Task Manager shows 698732 Peak for this game. That's quite a bit and more than most games. Definitely need more than 512 to play this game without HDD swapping. Glad I got a gig.

I do notice though that sound is only coming from 2 speakers instead of all 4.

I don't have fraps installed and don't need to know my fps to know when a game runs smooth and when it doesn't. All I can say is this game runs as smooth as most of my other games and smoother than some (like DX2 for example). I first ran it with 8X Aniso on also but I didn't like the way the rocks looked and I could feel the difference when I turned it off (smoother play). Now I have it to application (have 4X FSAA forced) and cfg shows it as "1".
