1.0-5332 and resolution issues

i just installed the new drivers but theres an issue.

im using the old generic nvidia drivers that come stock with slack 9.1
my xfree config is setup correctly because the old drivers work fine
when i swap "nv" for "nvidia" all of a sudden 1600*1200 no longer applies and it goes to 1400*1050. all i gota do is change nvidia back to nv and it X goes back to loading 1600*1200. if you need any more info ill be happy to provide it.
