Hi,
after updating to NVIDIA XFree86 Driver 1.0-4496 on SuSE Linux 8.2 my X11-programs using ZPixmap don't work any more (e.g. something like xi0 = XCreateImage(display, default_visual, default_depth, ZPixmap, 0, tt0, ttile_size, ttile_size, 32, 0); ) The resulting tiles, which once formed patterns in the background of a window, are reduced to some pixels in arbitrary places. Besides this everything the nvidia card should be able to do works well. No errors or warnings in XFree86.0.log. Is this a known problem or should I continue searching elsewhere? Thanks Michael |

First check if you inadvertently altered the color depth of your display while installing the new driver and configuring things with sax2. Have a look at the files /etc/X11/XF86Config and /var/log/XFree86.0.log. If your code can't handle different color depth, you will surely run into some problems with regard to ZPixmap. See "Xlib Programming Manual Vol. 1" and "Xlib Reference Manual, Vol. 2", by Adrian Nye, O'Reilly, for a detailed discussion.
Hope this will help. T. |
