Help with installing nvidia drivers in linux please

Hello, im fairly new to linux, and im trying to install drivers for my ge-force fx 5200 graphics card in mandrake 9.2. I downloaded the Linux Display Driver - IA32 Version: 1.0-5336 and executed the shell command, but this is what i get:

Am i doing somthing wrong? Someone please help, thanks.

To install, shut down to console and execute the driver as root.

Ok, i logged in as root, went to the shell command, ran the shell, and it gave me this error:

Error opening terminal: unknown.

Were you still in X (the gui)? That could be the problem.
