Go to Start menu, click on Run. Type in msconfig and hit enter.

When the window pops up, click on the tab labled Startup.

Search until you find nvQTwk. Click on it to make the checkmark

go away, meaning that it is no longer selected to load at startup.

This is an old problem, back from the det 2XXX series.

How about NView.dll crash?

I have:
XP Prof SP1, PNY GeForce4 MX420 PCI, Intel P4, 512MB DDR
in Shuttle SS50, SiS 650/315 integrated AGP

With SiS AGP 1.11, SiS 650 2.07 drivers.

NVidia drivers
- crash, if PNY is primary display adapter, primary screen, rendering XP into VGA 4bit/640x480
- crash and above, if PNY is only VGA adapter in XP
- crash, if PNY is secondary adapter with SiS 650/315, XP desktop works OK in SiS desktop

Older drivers:
30.x series: reboot
40.4x, all <= 40.71: Crash in every time, every display adapter conf

I just bought a GeForce4 Ti-4200 yesterday, and I'm having troubles with detonator 40.72. After installing and rebooting, I just get a message that the card isn't properly installed and windows wants to find apropriate drivers. Everything worked fine with the drivers on the CD (28.32).

If I don't get 40.72 to work, which version is then recommened? I will try 40.71 but I guess they will be the same.

Default OpenGL games very very very slow

Is anyone having opengl issues with 40.72 drivers? I can't run any opengl games properly, all I get is low framerates and sound stuttering. D3d is fine, doesn't seem to be worse or better.
I'm running a GF2 ti , Celeron 800 with Win2k SP2 plus 384 MB of ram. Any help is appreciated.

bah. I lost too much performance with the 40.72's. So I went back to 40.71's, and it just didn't seem right. So I rolled back to 40.52 and thats it. Thats the driver I am using until a better one comes out.

I get very low frame rates in all quake III engine games, NeverWinter Nights is sluggish without the interface overlay, with the interface overlay it's single digit frame rate teritory. Kind of hard to comprehend, cause previously performance was pretty good.

I've never uninstalled a set of drivers faster than this one.

Using Win98SE, and a TI 4600....

I didn't have any problems in OpenGL games, although I did not test anything comprehensively. I only ran Quake3: Urban Terror quickly, just to confirm that it was working, at least in the win98 driver (Someone had reported that this game was corrupted with 40.72).

Freespace2 and Darkstone were also working in D3D.

However, there were some bad problems with running windows programs from a fullscreen DOS prompt. Either icons in the program would be corrupted (Rivatuner, for instance, would have the two buttons, for low level and driver level options--that expand into the color icons, corrupted), or the entire windows system would crash, with a "black screen" winoldapp.dll crash.

Also, the windows shutdown screen was either out of sync, or had an invalid refresh rate, as my monitor would actually go into power save mode, on the windows shutdown screen ! (I haven't seen anything like that, since the 7.78 driver, where this first occured, though that was fixed in 7.87 but the sync bug actually morphed into a more serious MS DOS Vesa bad sync on game exit bug, which wasn't fixed until 27.xx.....)

I'm back on the 31.40 drivers.....which, incidentally, fixed DOS Vesa corruption (random line flickering) in Screamer and Duke Nukem 3D, that was present in 29.42....(too bad Screamer STILL crashes randomly regardless of windows or pure DOS mode, with a P3... >_<).

Question Minimizing Issues?

Hoping you guys can help me out here. Right after I installed the beta...I've noticed that when I minimize any window via the taskbar, it takes a considerable amount of time to minimize. Maximizing from the taskbar is fast as usual. And if you minimize using the minimize button on the window it is fast as usual also. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this...and does anyone know if it is the driver? And if it is the driver...anyone know how to fix it (other than reinstalling the old driver of course)...

It began to happen RIGHT after I installed the new drivers so I am assuming that it might possibly be the new drivers...and it is quite annoying since I minimize most of the time from the taskbar...

I'm running:

GeForce2 GTS (64MB) on Samsung 753DF @ 1152x864 (70Hz)
Compaq Presario 7000 series
512MB RAM
WinXP Pro SP1
AMD Athlon 1.4Mhz

Thanks in advance for your help!!

UPDATE!!
------------------------------------
I messed around a little and have determined that it has something to do with the nView desktop manager...when I turn off nView...my windows maximize and minimize as they should...

The irony in this all is the fact that one of the nice things nView has is that it cuts out all the animation to make windows faster when minimizing/maximizing...which it did...until this release....I hope someone lets nVidia know about this one...I'd hate to have to stop using transparencies and such because their "fast" minimize/maxmize is broken :-/ Anybody else having this problem?

MORE UPDATE
-------------------------------------
Yes...definately an nView issue...Cause I turned it off and then went into the system settings myself and turned off the window animation and it worked just as it should...with nView on, it was all slow as I described above...:-/ I don't wanna give up my transparencies for long....hope nVidia fixes....
