Need some motherboard advice please
Looks like the 2200+ I ordered will not work with my KR7A motherboard (even though Abit's 9N bios says "support for 2200+" / I think it means pre- .13 micron). I believe I will need a new motherboard. After reading some reviews the Gigabyte GA-7VRXP/KT333 looks to be a winner, but the Gigabyte GA-7VAXP/KT400 also looks really tempting due to some cool features. The problem is the KT400 board is really new and the consensus isn't out yet. Anyone running the GA-7VAXP/KT400?? Or does anyone have some recommendation??

If you're planning on holding onto the motherboard for awhile, I would opt for the KT400 or even the nForce2 ( which will be out before you know it )...
You'll want an AGP8X compatible motherboard to take advantage of all the next generation cards coming out....Plus, I imagine games like DOOM III will start to actually tkae advantage of the faster bus....  |

Well, I took the plunge. I went for the GA-7VAXP/KT400. It's so new I hope I don't regret it. What the hell.....a little adventure won't hurt.

Well I refused the package when the Fedex guy showed because earlier in the week I decided to order the tried and true KX7-333-R. I started doing some more in-depth reading on the KT-400 chipset and it appears we may be headed towards a KT-400A chipset. If that happends all the KT-400 owners are getting screwed. Additionally the Gigabyte boards present bios does not allow for ANY ram timing adjustments at all. Possibly Gigabyte is planning to be conservative now, and allow for more settings in future bios'es but I didn't want to wait and find out. It was really hard turning the guy away because the board looks nice on the feature side of things. Oh well....
