Default 9800 XT at 657 MHz?!?!?

Some dude got his 9800 XT clocked at 647/456. He must have modded the voltage on that card to get it running so freakin' high. No question he's prepared for Doom 3 and HL2!!

Check it out here

Jesus...(wait, can I say Jesus at this forum? Oh who cares, this is one case where I need to say it!).

How the hell can it get so high...I wouldn't think even the core would function with a 50%+ overclock. I'd like to have his card!

Though his ram still seems a bit slow (well, compairativly ). Still, VERY impressive. Though in the same way kinda unneccisary. I mean, what game is unplayable on a stock 9800 with full AA/Aniso settings? Not that I wouldn't want a card like that

This might have had something to do with it too.

P4EE @4434MHz

What's he using? Liquid nitrogen?

It would make a huge difference in 3DM01, not in 03.

Very impressive all around, though. I also would be curious to know how he has both that vid card and system cooled. If I had to guess, it's probably a Prometia or other phase-change cooler and/or a peltier.

it's macci's card, him and opp both have around the same clocks...both use a 2 stage cascade phase change system...both are insane overclockers

Something like that.
Either that or he lives in a Iglo in some Pole and using ice as a box... by the time the box melted, he would have the benchmark completed !

3dmark03 is far more gpu dependent than cpu dependent...

the oc will help a little but the gpu clocks (HOLY MOTHER OF GOD ) is what gives him the massive marks

wowser...

btw

Their cooling method:

Cooling: Dual R404/R23 cascade vaporphase cooler (CPU -85C, GPU -83C)

http://www.akiba-pc.com/article.php?26.0

On the whole, that's pretty hot! Er... cool.

Cooling article here. TOTALLY nuts! ^_^

The overclocked CPU probably netted him another 700+ points. When running mine stock, and then overclocked, it added about 500.
