I have a fresh install of Mandrake 9.2 PowerPack
Kernel is 2.4.22-10mdk Video Card is PNY Geforce3 TI 200 Processor is AMD Athlon XP 1700+ Motherboard is Giga-byte GA-7vRX Mandrake's nVidia driver did not seem to work, so I installed the new nVidia driver from nVidia (1.0-5336-pkg1), made the changes to the XF86Config-4 file as the documentation told me to, rebooted and the screen flashed a few times and dumped me to command-line. The video bios is not being detected or something according to the /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0 file. Model: GeForce3 Ti 200 IRQ: 16 Video BIOS: ??.??.??.??.?? Card Type: AGP The XF86Config-4 file is as follows: # File generated by XFdrake. # ************************************************** ******************** # Refer to the XF86Config man page for details about the format of # this file. # ************************************************** ******************** Section "Files" # Multiple FontPath entries are allowed (they are concatenated together) # By default, Mandrake 6.0 and later now use a font server independent of # the X server to render fonts. Your nvidia kernel module and nvidia XFree module versions must match. Run the installer again, making sure it completes successfully.

It completed successfully last time. However, after getting this error, I found on other forums that other people had the same problem and what I did was went in and found the RPM package that Mandrake had installed and it was 4496, and I uninstalled it. I then reinstalled the 5336 driver, but it still does not work. However, now when I run 'modprobe nviidia' I get a garbled console.
