Question Amd64 - Nvidia

Hi all =)

I am back...and thats not a good thing cause that means i am having probs again lol.
Well anyhow i have the AMD Athlon 64 3000+ and mobo K8V Deluxe and Asus Geforce FX 5600 256MB, With 1GB DDR RAM.
Working on SuSE 64 bit edition 9.0, Xfree86 4.3.1, KDE 3.2, And kernel 2.4.21-201.

Now i tried to install the Nvidia drivers: 1.0-5332 on the normal way.
If i restart X i get a black screen and then my whole comp is stuck. cant reboot X or the comp. nothing works. Hard Reboot needed. =(

ok i uninstalled the new drivers and went to switch2nv (nv)
Then i have tried to install the Nvidia drivers 1.0-4499.
This is done with the patch:

diff -u -r ../NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4499.old/Makefile ./Makefile

I have the same mobo (not the deluxe though) and a prolink same nvidia chip driver (GeForce FX 5600). and I get the same problem except that my screen does not come black, rather buggy with so many strange charachters different colors filling up the screen.

here is my error logfile (does not contain any error!!!) but punch of warnings:

Default Re: Amd64 - Nvidia

here is more:

when I type startx from the text console in runlevel3 I get this message in the console :

Quote:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
one more thing that could be the reason. It says in the log file the the drivers (nvidia and glx) are compiled against xfree-3.0.2. mainly this is what i see:

Quote:
II) LoadModule: "nvidia"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.o
(II) Module nvidia: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation"
compiled for 4.0.2 , module version = 1.0.5332
Module class: XFree86 Video Driver
