Default Jesus: Disciples of the Old Republic

OK, I've had this great idea for a game. You play as Jesus H. Christ (so it'll get a sales boost from that Passion thingy he's in), and you basically control him through his adult life.

It's a party-based RPG. It will be based mainly on exploration and combat, as well as levelling up. There will also be subgames (can YOU feed 5,000 people with two loaves and five fishes?). But the main feature of this game (apart from its great storyline) will be its replayability. Based on decisions you make throughout the game, your character (Jesus) will slowly become either good or evil (or remain fairly neutral). If Jesus saves a lot of people, and is nice to tax collectors, he will be a Good Man. If he goes around murdering people in back alleys, or pickpocketing people in taverns, he will be a Bastard. Whether he is Good or Evil will affect how easy it will be for him to use God Powers (Heal, Camel Through A Needle, etc) and Satan Powers (Satan Lightning, Force Feed A Fasting Man, etc).

There will be many side quests and many proverb-based subgames. Jesus' party members will include disciples, orcs and droids. Michael Dorn has already agreed to do a voice-over .

I'm thinking of basing it on the Neverwinter Nights engine. If anyone has any feedback or ideas that they would like to contribute, please do. All help is appreciated . It looks better than Battlefield: Vietnam already .

The good news is you would have unlimited lives.

The bad news is you have to wait three days to respawn.

Lol, Jesus that's an entertaining idea (litterally). I'd like to see what the result of becoming evil would be, it might effect the history of the earth just a teensy weensy bit

Thanks for all the positive feedback, guys. I'm glad the hear everyone likes the idea! I was hoping y'all could help me with some of the content, too. Although it's very important to me to keep the game as historically accurate as possible, it must also be a fun game. Do you think flying Jesus disks, lightsabers, and BB guns would be fun enough to warrant their inclusion?

Also, God powers and Satan powers. I need lots of creative input!

Oh, and I know I said I wanted the game as historically accurate as possible, but I'm still gonna make Jesus a white guy. It's my game, sue me .

(Please don't sue me)

Haha, well if you can get the models into a format I'm familiar with, I could do the animations. I've done a few for Half-life mods and such, so this shouldn't be too different.

I am a bit more agnostic-ish, so to me "historically accurate" is anyone's best guess, but the idea is just so entertaining I can't ignore it . Besides, if a silly project like this can take off, then maybe there's hope for my extremely odd idea for a Half-life mod (which I might reveal someday ).

Blashphemy. Disgusting. Evil?

I hope you run into some extreme bad luck, a-hole.

lol, that'd be a great idea for a 'spoof' game. I want this to be true to the Word of the Bible, though.

Great Satan powers I especially like the last one. Cast "I hope you run into some extreme bad luck, a-hole" on a bad guy, and it lowers their chance to save on all rolls of the dice.

Not sure how Blashphemy would work... how do you 'blash' someone? I think using any Satan powers would imply blasphemy, maybe I should just use my imagination. Maybe Blashphemy could be the Evil version of Smite? I'm just thinking out loud here... again, though, thanks for the input .

Thanks for the offer, Edge! My timetable this month has just got hella busy, so I don't expect any real progress to be made until April, but I'll let you know! And monkeydust, you get a cookie thanks .
