Hi all,
I am running Suse9 (AMD64 version Kernel version 2.4.21) on a AMD64 3400+ and am trying to get my Nvidia 5950 up and running with the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5332 drivers. My MB is an Asus K8V. It's a completely basic installation without any additional software installed. After 'init 3' I succefully install the driver (al least that's what I am told). Now, when running 'Sax2' (either from init 3 or from init 5 (X)), The system crashes resulting in either a black screen, or some garbled horizontal lines on an otherwise black screen. What can I do to get the default AMD64-Suse9 install to work with 'nvidia' drivers instead of the default 'nv' variant? I am not experienced enough to recompile a kernel ..... However, if that's the way to go, I'll try (there's nothing to lose on a 'vanilla' install). ne suggestions? Many thanks in advance. |

Hi bakelaar
i had the same problem, until someone helped me with that in an other thread. Try Option "NvAgp" "0" in the video driver section that switches off the AGP part that worked for me. He told me that the VIA Chipset is not supportet by the NVIDIA driver I wonder why;-). |
