yes... it only allowed a maximum texture resolution of "Normal" The full game allows "High" and "Highest"

Thx, that I did not know. And it is good news.

I imagine you'll want a 256MB card for the highest setting then?

Hmm.. I'm not sure, I get 80fps average at the highest setting and no pauses with my card, so I dont think it really reaches past 128 texture usage.

It runs silky smooth @ 1024X768 and everything to high on my ti4600. I don't like the way they changed the nightvision mode though, it seems too "soft". The thermal is great as always, and it runs way faster than in the original! As for the UT2K4 comment, they actually put lower res files into the demo to cut down on download size as well. The final game has approx 2X higher res textures. I think they cut down the SC textures as well, because the 2nd original SC demo was 189 mb, and had two levels as well, while this is alot smaller.

Meh. It's nice to see my reflection in the windows, instead of some stupid white blur or weird shiny stupidness like in the first one.

Ok well I've been playing it for an hour or so... well, its ok I guess, graphics seem very similar to SC1... And, is it just me, or is the sound absolutely horrible??? Like it was recordered off a Yak Bak in the toilet while its flushing.

Started playing the demo, not sure what I think yet. The new messages seem worse than the first, I'm not big on the spaces under the Interact options. The gameplay was similar to the first, didn't feel like a whole lot of anything new, but that's not an entirely bad thing. The single player story is going to have to be pretty decent for this not to disappoint.

I'm glad they're releasing a multiplayer demo for this, maybe that will convince to rush out and pay full price for it. Right now I feel it's more of a 30 dollar purchase, especially with having just bought UT2k4 and with Far Cry on the horizon.

Wow the demo is brilliant.

I am really very surprised the demo is very fast on mine, it has very good graphics. It strange that many posts I read here and at Rage3D, many moaned that demo is too slow on train track and graphics sucked. On mine I found train track very fast and the graphics is great as original Splinter Cell, I am sure the retail version will have higher quality graphics alot better than the first game graphics.

I just finished the demo after about 30 mins. I think the only thing is its too short. that cave level u can do it in like 3-4 mins lol.

The sound is fine here, and im not sure what people are complaining about the graphics for they look great here. I running it on 1024x768 on high and it looks nice, cant wait for the mp demo.

I think the graphics are better than the first splinter cell, but not by much, seeing as it still uses the same engine, and it's only a year later. They probably spent most of their time making new levels and working on the multiplayer segment. I think they did a good job, all considered. At least they fixed the lack of clipping for dead bodies, so now it is impossible to hide the bodies through the wall (damn!!).

Using 1280X1024 is incredible, as there are now no jaggies, and the performance is still quite decent. It's like the best form of antialiasing ever, and the resolution is hardly even increased.

My only complaint so far is that the second demo level was way too short and didn't even let you see the caves you were infiltrating, and the fact that your gun can still go into the wall when sneaking along side it. Ragdoll deaths would be nice, but that would make it difficult to implement a way to carry the bodies properly. Those minor points don't detract very much though.

Other than that its really good.

And what were people complaining about for the sound? Some specific examples would be nice. It sounds great here, and i'm not using eax. (stupid sb live not supporting eaxHD)
