So I am at work trying to setup this computer we got in. It has two really nice flat panel dell lcds. The card I am using is quadro I believe. It doesn't use the second monitor in x windows though, so I think I have to update the driver and reconfig the xf86Config file. I downloaded the newest driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run. But I have gnome setup to boot straight to x. So I edited the /etc/inittab file to make it so that it boots straight to console. I run the install file, but it still says that I have the xserver running and I can't install it. I can't figure out how to quit it. Need your help please!

If the box has a vnc daemon running it will also report that X is started, check that it is off in runlevel 3, or just stop it before the install. The driver should also install fine from runlevel 1 if this doesn't fix your problem.

Yes I know my boss installed VNC on it earlier, next time I work on it I'll have to check that out, thanks!
