Question ... what does one do about GLX? The glx component needs to be the same version number doesn' t it? I can't get this driver to load until I remove glx.

I'm running 32-bit Fedora Core 2 Test 3 and kernel 2.6rc2 without 4KSTACKS, without REGPARM, without preemption, tried with and without powernow-k8, and UT2004 is segfaulting after several minutes of play. I have an ASUS K8V with Athlon 64 3200+ and BFG GeForceFX 5700 Ultra. I can play for hours under WinXP on this hardware. I'm using the 53.41 drivers with minion.de's patch. Same problem, but more frequently, with the prior nVidia revision. Are there any other kernel options for me to try or am I stuck until nVidia updates their Linux drivers?
What I'd really like is 64-bit Unreal, but that's not out yet. Maybe I should try a 64-bit FC2T3 install and the Unreal 64-bit demo? |

as an answer to your ut2k4 linux issue i have the same problem as do others......it seems that the linux port is currently buggy and i think its gonna take a patch to fix the problems. I can sometimes play for hours and other times it crashes several times in a matter of minutes.

tamran, thanks! Somehow I missed that, I never actually tried it. I'll install 64-bit and see how it goes.

SuLinUX: thanks for the link! But icculus.org appears to be down at the moment, d'oh!
I've got UT2004 up and running on 64-bit Fedora Core 2 Test 3, using the minion.de driver mod. No kernel recompile necessary. BUT: I can't connect to any game servers like I could in 32-bit FC2T3. I can retrieve mods from the servers but then I get connection refused or some such thing. Hmm. |

I tried this release with the patch from www.minion.de this night.
It works great but : - as with 5336 release, no more text consoles ! - when i quit KDE the kernel freezes and I've to hard reboot. So I'm back to release 4620. GeForce FX 5900 from MSI Linux SuSE 9.0 with kernel 2.6.5-8 from SuSE. Michel. |
