Environment on very high is something. I am thinking the way these games are going very low AF and light AA is going to be fine. I am praying the NV40 will do all the games I want at 1200x1600, 4AA/4AF. Far Cry's rendering/detail is first rate. I hope to see more games like this and better.

I absolutely love the game, after which seemed to a frickin' hr to install. But I have two problems though:
  • Does anyone else experience mouse lag at various settings?
  • Sound bug from demo is still there. All sounds work fine for the first few minutes then all you here are ambient sounds. I've tried every sound setting but they all produce the same problem. (specs in sig)

I wouldn't exactly consider 4xAA to be "light." I really doubt the upcoming generation of cards will be able to pull off 1600x1200 with those levels of AA and AF. But if they can, it would be rather sweet.

This game and Halo are the only two I've run into so far that won't run in 1600x1200. To choppy. I have to run them both in 1024x768. While the interpolation of my LCD blurs it a bit it really doesn't look that bad at all.

I did just upgrade from my 9700pro to a 9800XT over the weekend but haven't tried 1600x1200 yet. I doubt it'll be enough extra horsepower to make it playable though, so I'm not even going to try.

I don't run w/AA or AF turned on, though I'm tempted to try it out that way and see how it runs. I have everything on VH and water on UH right now and it's smooth as butter.

Rip, has the extra 128 mb of video memory come in handy at all?

Heh yes I guess that isn't quite light. I simply don't find 2XAA worth the trouble, possibly 2XAF. I can stand the game without either, but the blurring of distant horizontal surface textures gets to me, more than 'jaggies', so I tend to go for AF.

Let's all hope Nvidia's new AA doesn't hit the card too hard.

I don't know what it is about Nvidia cards but I can push the 4600 up to a 960X1280 res with very high detail all, which drops the fps into the high teens in the dense outdoor enviroments but its STILL smooth. Heck at 1024X768 its between 21-41 outdoor same setting, which might not sound playable, but its butter smooth. Of course these are NO AA/AF the card just doesn't have the bandwidth to eat that.

From my Overclocked Raddy128mb overclocked to past 9800xt speeds, to the true 9800XT we have at work, I notice a noticable performance increase. The demo at work is able to pull off 1280x1024 all options maxed, 2xaa, at very reasonable fps.

Also, it sets my default graphics setting to medium texture quality. The 9800xt at work it sets to Very high by default.

I believe that the game uses more than 128mb of texture resolution.

no what happens is after 5 or so mins of gameplay I immediately lose sound from some of my weapons but can still here ambient noises fine. Could it be because EAX 2 & HW mixing is enabled?
