Re: Far Cry: OpenGL or DX9?
Absolutely not. After testing it, it does very well increasing frame rates in indoors scenes with lots of gun fire. I tried the archive level and saw frame rates up to 100. THEN I tried the boat level. I went to the island and jumped into the most dense underbrush I could find and boom, got frame rates down to 4 and 5 fps.
I changed it back to direct3d and tried the most dense/detailed underbrush area again, this time sporting 21-34. Why this is I can't say. This is testing on a geforce 4 ti 4600, at 800x600 everything set to very high. I love OGL indoors but the complex high detail outdoor environment kills it bad.
In case you think I jest. The only thing changed in the cfg file was the r_render, I switched OGL and Direct3d. This a fraps shot at the same loc just off the rubber boat at a tree on the closest isle on the 'boat' level.
