Ive been reading and it says that NTFS is better than FAT32. Im running XP and i will probably use NTFS. But i need to know if i will beable to copy files between another 2k machine which is on FAT32.
Also could people post some good things about NTFS over FAT32. thanx

NTFS--no Scandisk after a failed shutdown, it's faster, encryption, etc. al.
Basically, it's a far superior format. And as long as you're copying the Win2k stuff while you're in XP, it'll read fine. |

I have tried both and to be honest i dont know which is faster, if one is its by a very small amount. When i switched to XP i started using NTFS and liked the fact there was no error checking anymore but didn't like the fact i couldn't see my paritions with a Win98 Boot disk. Right now im running Fat32 for both my System C: paritition and Storage D: partition. I am planning to format soon and i think i'll give NTFS another shot just because i can.

Yeah! I like NTFS, only thing I use, I am thinking about adding another 80 gig to this, that one will also be NTFS. On my other comp I got all sorts of partitions that I made with Partition Magic Pro 7, its great. But anyways, you should have no problem.

well if you intend to use linux remember that you can only read NTFS partition since M$ doesnt realease any info about NTFS the progress is very slow.

also if you ever happen to screw up your installation boot disks can't see anything on an NTFS partition either

That's why the WinXP CD is bootable...
And NTFS support for Linux will probably be in the 2.6 kernels, which should be out before TOO long... ![]() |
