Kernel v.2.6.5, nforce2, make fails
Ok, straight to business. My setup is :
Latest debian distro
kernel v.2.6.5 with AGPGART support for nforce/nforce2 chipset,
ALSA support for intel i8x0/nforce audio.
Actual hardware is..
MSI NF7-s (version 1) motherboard with nforce2 chipset
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ barton core processor
sapphire ati radeon 9600 xt
trying to use nforce2 integrated sound
512 megs crucial ddr 2700 ram
Okay, so here's the problem. After downloading and reading the directions for the latest nVidia nforce driver, I tried to make. This produces the following output/error:
make -C nvnet
make: Entering directory `/usr/src/nforce/nvnet'

I've looked into the topic, and I realize that this driver is really meant for 2.4 series kernels, however, I'd like to try and get it working with 2.6.5. I read somewhere that a possible solution might be to change the line
in the file /lib/modules/2.6.5/build/include/asm/irq.h to
however, this did not seem to work. If I can get sound alone to work, that might be okay, because it seems like the built in kernel AGPGART driver works okay, and sound is the only other thing I would really like to have. Is there currently a standalone sound driver for 2.6 series kernels?
Any insight into any of these topics would be greatly appreciated.
