These RAM issues don't effect average FPS, they cause sudden stalls. In Battlefield Vietnam for instance the game runs at 50-150fps (frame counter bounces wildly) but the game will pause for up to 4 seconds (almost an eternity), though mostly for 0.5 to 2 seconds while memory gets paged in and out for the current game location. UT2004 with preloaded skins and high (or greater) texture behaves the same way as well as having load times of up to 1:30m on my machine (almost enough to miss the first round, or lose the game at times).

The point here is that the game should never have to hit the page file in the first place. It's the game developers writing crappy code.

But you're a Linux user so if you think there's an opportunity to take a dig at Microsoft you're going to do it. Guess I shouldn't expect anything less.
