Hmm, are you using any refresh forcing programs? I know that Halo gave me that error when I was using the Rivatuner fix. Aside from that, I'm not sure, sorry.

Oh, just to make sure have you updated your drivers? It IS an ATI card, afterall

Ouch, that can be a tricky problem to fix I'm afraid. Try reinstalling Directx9, but if that doesn't do it I'm afraid I'm gonna have to recommend you reinstall Windows fresh and start over

And on another note, R8500LE is a little under powered for Halo as well as other new first person shooters. I would recommend a R9600XT or higher for you

yeah so your saying a 128 mb radeon 8500le is under powered? So playing UT2004 On highest maxium detail with 16x Anisotropic at 60+ FPS isn't powerfull? My crapier computer plays Halo at a decent 40 fps and i have an Athlon 750, 512mb pc133, and a 32mb Geforce 2 Mx so yeah if an 8500le is underpowered for a crappy graphic game such as Halo then what does my card fall under?

ok, you need to seriously take a time out here, I wasnt trying to be nasty and I'm very happy to hear you can play UT2k4 at those settings. Congratufriginlations

Anyways, reinstall DX9, if it dont work, reformat, reinstall windows, play happy

With GF2 you will be playing halo without any shader effects or any other effects for that matter like bumpmapping , and to get decent fps with all eye candy you need mid-end dx9 card as minimum.

As other suggested just resinstall dx9 and drivers perhaps something is screwd up in windows. DX9 is on Halo CD im sure and www.ATI.com drivers and yes Halo is badly coded thats for sure.
