Hi there:

I am facing problems with RH 7.3. Installation and stuff is fine but system hangs up after logging into x-window.

I am still using the older original driver and dont know what to do to have accelerated graphhics on my system.

if you are using kernel 2.4.18 (in RH7.x) or earlier there is an AMD AGP bug causes X to crash or hang. You must need newer kernels.

Exclamation Re: Redhat/Fedora and Nvidia

I'm using 2.4.20 (redhat 9 w/ FX5200 256MB) and system hangs when clicking on the back or up in a file browser or launching 3D file utility. I have deleted the line Load "dri" but didn't see the Load "GLcore." I think I see the GLcore load at startup. If it's not in the xf86config, then where else could it be? I also tried the AGP option once for Nvidia and once for the kernel. Neither seemed to correct the problem.

By the way, I did see a huge difference after switching to the new driver. Launching of apps and windows were much faster. When I reach the file I want to edit and then click back, it may work if I'm quick enough, but then I see folders with, "...," under them instead of the folder name. By that time the screen is locked.
