Exclamation Driver 5336 bugs

I upgraded to kernel 2.6.5 from 2.6.3 and installed the driver 5336. On kernel 2.6.5 when I play America's Army the screen like goes black for less than a sec and then comes back. In kernel 2.6.3 with the same driver doesn't happens. Also, I used to have driver 4496 with the patch from minion.de on kernel 2.6.3 and when I closed the lid, if turned of, now with 5336 it doesnt turn off. The screen gets distortioned. I have a Dell Inspiron 8500 with a GeForce4 MX 440. I was wondering how may I downgrade to the 4496 in kernel 2.6.3 because I tried to install it again but I can't start X.

Default Re: Driver 5336 bugs

I believe the momentarily blanking screen is related to acpi in 2.6.5, I see the same issue (symptoms of the screensaver starting or monitor sleeping but neither are occuring, lasts less than 1 second).

To downgrade the driver you may need to manually remove some components.. use the nVIDIA installer to remove the driver first, then check the readme for what files are installed by that version.. check each and verify it is removed PRIOR to downgrading. Using 4496 you will require the patchset from minion.de.
