Top picture seems a bit better @400% However, blazing@ 200 FPS no-one will notice.

absolutely not..

it only shows -once more- by the comments here.. some the first others the second, that when no labels are place in the pictures that says ATI or NVdia ,they can be evenly matched ,with the new AA in the NV40. in still shots you need to zoom or to be very close to the monitor to notice any slight diference , just imagine how fruitless it can be to see any diference if you are in the game.

it will be nice if in the future in every review people do the same ,to not say the name of the card that the shot was done.. and ask people to choose the "better" one.

Thanks for the feedback. The top image is from the GeForce 6800 Ultra and the bottom is from the Radeon 9800 Pro. Both with 4X AA. I'll put together another comparison this evening from another section of the image.

Looking solely at the 100% shots (/me tries to remember the last time I played a game at 400% zoom ) I prefer the top one.

I must say I do have to wonder about the value of zoomed images when comparing FSAA. If you can't see it unzoomed, you can't see it in the game.

Very well stated. I do find this thread very interesting/telling so bring on the second comparison Mike.

Yeah, that's why I didn't vote. I couldn't really tell a difference and I was afraid they'd end up being the same pic again.

I kinda gathered that from the angles the aliasing was applied to... ati's seems to continue to be better for horizontal but the good news is nv's is now pretty much on par...

as many mentioned there are various things that look very similar... I just prefered the added smoothness to the top of the wing vis-a-vis the added smoothness to the bottom of the wing... personal choice naturally...

is it possible to poll the imgs next time mike? be interesting

plus... last 2 compares you've done IIRC you have had nv on top and ati @ the bottom pattern exists... people will vote for fav IHV @ the end of the day lol...

I vote for top as well. I'm pretty shocked to find out that the top was the NVIDIA one and not the ATI.

With zoomed images, I found the bottom one smoother.
With 100% image, I found the top one smoother.
But...the bottom one looked slightly better to me, even though the top one looked smoother. The smoke looks better, though I am not sure which is closer to the intended image.
