Depends on what games you play, and who you ask. SInce this is a PC hardware enthusist forum, i bet you PC will win.

But with the cost of Consoles so low now 150$, why not both?

Hmm, hard to say which is simply "better". On the one hand you have PCs which allow for mods, popular internet play, and plenty of options on how to play your games. On the other hand, it's more relaxing laying back in your chair with a controller in your hands playing a game, and while it doesn't have as many options as PC games, those options are usually more universal (for example voice-chat being standard in Xbox Live games, but a rarity in PC games), not to mention in multiplayer games EVERYONE is equal and everyone is seeing/controlling the game the same way, you don't have some people getting 100 FPS while others are barely managing 10 at 1/4th the resolution, and everyone is using the same type of control system for it. Also while mods and addons are very cool for PCs, the simple unavailibility of them to most people makes them less attractive: when you need a map to play a game on Xbox Live, it tells you which map you need and 1 minute later you've got it and are ready to play on that server, whereas some of the less popular mods for PC games are unfortunatly worthless just because noone seems to play them (someone play Science and Industry, damnit!).

Hard to say...I guess in a raw comparision gaming consoles would win simply because they're dedicated to gaming, unlike a PC which has many other factors which affect the way you play games, but right now I spend most of my time playing PC games (mainly Natural Selection and Warcraft 3, actually). But I don't doubt that once I get broadband, I'll be spending 90% of my time on Steel Battalion: Line of Contact...

Keyboard and Mouse is the best interface for FPS type games. So, PC for those.

Gamepad is best for sports games and platformers. So, console for those.

PC better for older people it offers more different games then console also all the other stuff you can do , upgrades , work , ect ect.

Console for AGE 6+ people no complexity hook up and play , no need to worrie about upgrades drivers and stuff. offcourse there are horror games to so its debatable , GameCube is for kids thats for sure imho. Then again old people can play kiddy games also , so my point is moot.

for multiplayer first person shooters like UT2k4, I think PC is the only way to go. The combined use of a keyboard and mouse for these types of games cannot be matched to game console controller. PC also has the advantage of running games above 800x600 resolution with much higher detail settings than any console can currently provide. The disadvantage of PC gaming is the cost of upgrades and unbalanced performance between players, but upgrading & tweaking can also be half the fun .

My general rule: anything MP-FPS I go PC... for everything else I use my GameCube

anyway, vote for PC here

Well, Xbox supports HDTV resolutions so I don't think that resolutions should be an issue.
