Hi, I have Mandrake 10. After I install the 5336 driver, KDE loads and runs very slowly for anywhere from 1 second, to 1 minute, and then locks up. The installer could not find a pre-compiled module for my kernel, so it compiled one for me.
Specs: card:-------------------------nVidia GeForce2 MX/MX 400 Driver:----------------------5336 Mandrake:-----------------10 kernel:----------------------2.6.0 Motherboard:-------------Dell A02 Processor:------------------P3, 700mhz I'd post the other useful info, but the driver is not currently installed. I just got my wacom tablet working and if I had installed the driver before posting this, I wouldn't be able to use it and the GIMP for a while. This is the problem I had when I installed the driver a while back. Since then I have reinstalled Mandrake 10. Running the uninstall command is not enough because two files are modified by the installer and not set back to their original state. These files are libGL.so.1 and libGLcore.so.1 (I think). At the time I did not have internet access so doing a clean install was the easiest option. Even though I have not provided all the approiate trouble-shooting info, I was hoping to at least get some suggestions as to what the problem might be. If the driver does not work properly this time, then I will post the rest of the data. Thank you. |

Tune NvAGP - see /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0/README
Your kernel is old btw. Upgrade to be faster, more stable and more secure. |

Also, I don't have the directory /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0. I did --extract-only thinking it would be placed there, but it wasn't. Are you refering me to the online README? I will search it now for Tune NvAGP.

I installed the 5336 driver and used the
Option "NvAGP" "0" to disable AGP, and same as before when I tried this, my computer still runs excruciatingly slow, and then locks up. bty, when it locks up, the mouse cursor still responds to movement. Just thought I'd add that fyi. I am using the links text web browser right now. I will post my XF86Config-4 and XFree86.0.log files at the following addresses. thx. http://www.angelfire.com/music5/lear...86Config-4.txt http://www.angelfire.com/music5/lear...ee86.0.log.txt Last edited by ogreOSS; 04-21-04 at 02:39 AM. |

If you --extract-only, the readme I refer to is in ./usr/share/doc. |
