Running Fedora Core 1, kernel 2.6.3 NVIDIA-Linux 5336 driver
this has happened for some time now, install nvidia driver, edit config file (i've done this a thousand times before) startup X and bam, nothing. Screen goes black, doesn't matter how long I wait, so its not a slow startup issue. Attached is my XFree log with the verbosity turned up -verbose 5 -logverbose 5 Hardwares fine, tested it in Windows 2000 desktop, played with all the features of the windows driver, dual screen works etc. NvAGP doesn't appear to change anything, neither does the IngoreDisplayDevices settings. the attached XF86Config isn't anythign special, just changed nv to nvidia and specified the card in case that was the issue. please help, I'm an OpenGL programmer w/ no OpenGL accel. |

I've a similar problem, which I think is the same as yours.
Running Debian Testing, 2.4.25, NVIDIA-Linux 5336 driver, running 2 cards, Gainward FX Pro 660 128MB AGP and a Gainward FX Pro 660 64MB PCI with 3 monitors. Got a new IDE hard drive, added that on my PC, installed Win2k after a few problems, installed the Nvidia Windows driver, rebooted, then Windows kept crashing at the end of 2nd stage load (right before starting graphics mode) and getting fed up, wiped Win2k right off the IDE drive, and restored the bootloader on the SCSI drive, and now Xfree86 isn't working for me either despite working just fine before installing Win2k, and have made no changes whatosover to XFree86/graphics configs - getting a blank screen all the time. Uninstalled and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers, no help, although I disabled the extra two screens and the Nvidia driver worked fine... I think. Though it kept crashing when I tried the second time. Your logs seems a little different to mine, which is why I'm reposting here ![]() My 2 files are attached as below. |

Try setting your AGP mode to something slower in the bios. I had a similar problem with the bios set to 8x, but it worked with AGP 4x.
