Default Mandrake 10 - TV Out

Hey guys,

I've searched around the forums on this topic and it seems that everyone has a different solution to this problem... Looking at various posts and throwing lots of different things together, I came up with the following config file. Also, my hardware is the following:

Card: MSI Geforce 4 4400Ti w/ VIVO
Driver: 5336
OS: Mandrake 10 CE w/ all the updates

Now, understand, the driver is properly installed and works for KDE. The problem is that with the following config file, all output is directed to the TV and the monitor goes black. Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Oh...and also, with these drivers (even in windows), I experience this colored flickering up on the top of the TV screen and I'm thinking about rolling back to 44.96... If I get this config file to work with these drivers, will changes need to be made to get it to work with the older drivers? Thanks.

After a quick look this part of the config file looks correct (I'm tired so perhaps I forgot something). Could you post the full config file and the xfree86 log file?

The problem might lie in your metamode line. Xfree86 already complained that some of the resolutions are for example not valid for the tv. Somehow it might (by accident) have selected a metamode containing "Null" for the monitor which would explain the black screen.

This is your current metamode line:
Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024,640x480; 1152x768,640x480; 640x480, 1280x1024; NULL, 1280x1024; 1280x1024, NULL;"

Change it to this as 1280x1024 won't work on your tv:
Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024,640x480; 1152x768,640x480"

Talking Re: Mandrake 10 - TV Out

This XF86Config file works first time on 7 of the 8 Mandrake(2x9.2 6x10) boxes i tested, and works with both the 5336 and the beta 5341 drivers, give it a shot, just remember to change the values i have commented on - this gets clonemode working, for real dualview, see my post further *up* the forum.... ) and it only needed a slight modification to work on redhat 9.
