Configuring Dual Head on Suse 9.0 and GeForce 4 MX440 SE

Hello All,

I just acquired an eVGA GeForce 4 MX 440 SE. I am trying to get this card to work with both of my two ViewsSonic E771 Monitors on Suse Linux 9.0. I am using YaST to configure the card and the monitor. My goal is to have an xinerama display. I have poked around on the settings but I have had no sucess getting the second monitor to fire up.

I have attached my logs and config. Somone please point me in the right direction.

To enable TwinView, you must specify the following options in the Device
section of your XF86Config file:

Option "TwinView"
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "<hsync range(s)>"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "<vrefresh range(s)>"
Option "MetaModes" "<list of metamodes>"

I got this working over the weekend. I have attached my config.

One think I noticed about the YaST/SaX GUI for configuring the interface is that some of the settings I was inputing were not taking effect. In these cases, I would exit YaST/SaX edit XF86Config by hand, go back into YaST/SaX and my settings were there. After a fair amount of tinkering, I got it.

It is also advisable to RTFM !!!

If I would have read that damn readme I would have gotten this done in 2 or 3 times faster. The manual had all the details on the options you can insert into the config for the nvidia driver.

I have a question about how you set up dual monitors on SUSE 9.0. In the dual-head configuration inside Suse, did it see that you had two out ports on your card, or did you have to add the stuff to the XF86Config file manually?
