Screen too wide with TwinView

I'm using a GeForce 440 MX, XFree86 4.4, NVidia drivers 5336 and Slackware current. I set up TwinView with my TV and what I want is that I work normally on my monitor (1024x768) and occasionally switch to another mode where my TV will be activated as well.

This works but with one problem: when I'm not using the TV, the screen size of my monitor gets wider then 1024x768. When I move my mouse beyond the right edge of the screen, the whole screen scrolls to the left. I guess the size of the extension to the right is about half a screen.

When I switch modes so my TV gets activated as well, the size of both screens is right. How can I fix this so in the mode without TV, the size of the desktop fits my screen?

This behaviour is normal as you are using an "extended desktop" for twinview. The real size of your desktop is 2x 1024x768 -> 2048x768.

Thanks for your answer, but I don't really understand it :-) Why does my desktop size double in the mode without TV, and then be normal again when the TV is switched on? How can I adjust the config-file so it doesn't get extended?

You are using TwinviewOrientation RightOf, which leads to an extended desktop. Only the option "Clone" doesn't lead to an extended desktop. This option causes the image on tv and monitor to be the same.

I have to say I'm quite disappointed by this, though. I don't want the Clone-option because I want to play a movie fullscreen on my tv, while being able to do other things on my monitor as well. Then when I'm not using my tv, i want the mouse to stay within my monitor, and not go beyond the edge of the screen. I have this set up under Windows, and expected it would be possible in Linux as well.
