Default Geforce mx 440 with twinview..

Hi,

First off here is my Config file and log file...

http://www.bignose.ca/nvidia/

I'm running Gentoo Linux, with the latest Nvidia drivers , kernel 2.6.4 agpgart is turned off in the kernel.

As you can see twinview is my goal. Monitors are 2 21 inch's. One is a Sun/Trinitron the other is a View Sonic p810.

Both monitors work individually so i know my refresh rates are set correctly.

When ever i startx, the monitor plugged into the DVI port always works and the one in the conventional port just goes blank..

If i'm in console mode, of course the display is mirrored.

not sure where else to turn.. any help would be awesome.. thanks.

jeff.

The download location of your config is not reachable. Could you send it to me? Thanks

The first thing I did is removing unneeded stuff from the config file to make it more maintainable. The file is pasted below. (it changes nothing special)

Did you already try resolutions other than 1600x1200 in twinview? Perhaps other resolutions work fine. Also really make sure the refresh rates are 100% ok. Doubt that both screens have exactly the same ranges. Also attach your xfree86 log file (placed in /var/log).

OK, I tried using what the previous post told me, changing to my hardware situation, but I cannot get it to work. Still keep getting these errors:

(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

My config is:

Could you paste the full log. The end result are those lines you pasted but useally the real cause is hidden in one of the lines.

It seems the driver complains about 1600x1200 for both monitors. In the driver is some code that validates all resolutions and it doesn't accept 1600x1200. Try with another combination to test it this is really the cause (1024x768, 1024x768).

So, I changed the lines specified into 1024x768,1024x768 (couldn't find any 1600x1280 elsewhere), but still the same error: no screen-stuff...
Anymore ideas??
One time it got complaining it didn't even find the driver for nvidia anymore... but that was just once, so I guess it must have been a temp problem or so.

Thanks for the help so far...
