jesus where do u live....u have some strange rocks. but whatever i stand corrected i guess. i still have never seen any rocks on the beach, wet or not give off specular properties.

na that rock wasn't outside I had that proping up my monitor, no just kiddin, I had it laying around somewhere. It's definatly not a beach rock, but, I'd say beach rocks would be even more specular.

and I give you mad props for stating that you stand corrected becasue nobody does that.

you know in addition to specular, there is diffuse, color, glossiness, translucency, (which many game programmers use this term for transparency, when in fact translucency allows light to pass, but shapes are but mere shadows) transparency, reflection.

Sand does reflect light, oh yea. It gives you a serious hit in the eyeballs on a sunny day. Similiar to snow blindness. Also shiny sand is responsible for a mirage.

....we are all losing it here.

........I can see some of you never EVER get outside by the water, the beach, or anywhere else. Wet rocks reflect light like crazy and have a very complex specular property. Shiny rock specular emulation though PS3.0's model is very cool.

Actually its the rising hot air which creates the reflective surface that looks like water.

yes but the shiny hot sand reflected the heat that made the mirage, I should have been more clear. It can also cause a reflection that is seen in the rising hot air. Hence the delirious camel seeing the desert in the sky LOL
