We just got a Fed Core 1 box to run some powerfull meteorological software. We wanted to run a dual monitor workstaion, but are having problems getting the ViewSonic VP201b and ViewSonic G810 monitors to work at the same time. I can get the DVI to work when the CRT is unplugged and vise versa. The video card is a eVGA GeForce FX 5200. It has multi-monitor support via nView multi-display technology. I have seen other posts hinting at this same problem, but never saw any answers to how and get this setup to work.
Can anyone help me out? Brian |

Hi, I wanted to let anyone else trying to set up a dual monitor system in FC1 how I got mine to work.
1) Download the Nvidia driver to your directory. You won't be able to run it a terminal window, so check the instructions below. 2) Reboot; assuming you're using GRUB, boot into single mode. If you don't know how, just hit "e" to edit the command line. Select the "kernel <etc> " line and scroll to the end. Type in "single" and the hit "b" to boot. 3) In the middle of your normal boot process, it will stop at a "#" prompt in character mode. This is where you enter the "sh NVIDIA-<etc>.run" command. 4) Note that if your kernel does not match the one the driver is looking for, you will have to download/unpack the kernel source files. (You can get these from the redhat system icon/system settings/add-remove applications option or download using the update icon). It will then compile the appropriate files. 5) Follow the rest of the instructions as laid out in the driver download webpage. 6) As a point of reference, I have included by XF86Config file below. - Good luck!
