Some problems with knoppix 3.4

please note that i'm only just starting with the linux stuff and thats why im asking these stupid questions.

currently im running Win XP Pro. with a duron 700 QDI motherboard and riva tnt2.i wanted to start educating myself and i decided to start with the knoppix because i heared it's easy to use and easy to un.indeed it detected all my hardware including the usb cable modem.there is just one problem:the X just wont run!!!! it says something like not compatible vga or something like that.i wrote a message like this in a bulgarian forum and there they adviced me to type xf86config.i did it and i dont know what to do now.if any of u out there has a solution to my problem please write me an e-mail savaman@abv.bg i would appreciate any assistance.
