well thats why im looking at them yes for teh TV out chips etc. Just noticed the very different POwer layouts on most 5950 cards. Not just better components persay but more of the same components in a different layout

and if Aopen 5950u is same layout as 5900nu, then just means both cards are manufactured to same original Nvidia design and manufacturing specifications !

Performance with the ASUS5950u bios appeared fine with my card, however noise was the main reason I didn't consider it a contender for long term use ! And I really didn't do many hard trials with it !

With the fan running full speed all the time it was just too noisy for me !

well as it turns out the MSI bios rev2 runs really nice on my card! Seems very fast like the latencies are good. Real smooth feeling and no cold boot issue i think. It has same TV out stuff to so perhaps thatl work. I modded Dev and sub id's to Leadtek. So far so good, thanks for the info.

I tryed the ASUS Bios and it was just pretty bad, the MSI had tons more proformance not to mention the ungodly fan speeds.

Have your tryed running flashing any cards with a higher core voltage like 1.6 and would it work. I don't see why it wouldn't be i don't have any PCI cards or extra money to blow my card right now.

i dunno how to mod to 1.6 via bios myself otherwise i might try

MSI5950u bios's have always worked best with my card ! And remember, because of MSI D.O.T. requirements, the bios was produced for a card which must run 300/522/1045 ! So I always took that to mean it was a well tweaked bios ? And it has never let me down !

However, remember to change latencies from "43" to "40", and get a bit more free performance !!!

currently there are no bios mods that will set GPU volts to 1.6 !

And, unless you are desperate for more performance and don't mind the consequencies of it going wrong, do not start playing with hardware GPU/Memory volt mods on a perfectly good performance card !!!!

Changing the latency accually didn't help me any because i had to back down the memory clocks so it was basicly back to where it was before proformance wise. With the latency on 40 i can't even run 1000 mhz but with it to 43 i can run about 1050 without breaking a sweat.

Could i get a better ram overclock if i added some fans to my ramsinks, they get really really hot, they almost burn me to the touch.

One last question, is there a bug in the 5x.xx series drivers that they don't switch to 3d mode when the ram is clocked too high. If i set my ram speed over 1000 mhz it will never switch into 3d mode but if I put it to like 995 it works fine.

I just was wondering if anyone modded the bios to run at 1.6 because it seems like there is instructions for volts up to 1.5, what is preventing it from going to 1.6 in u just modded it that way.

The MSI 5950 rev2 bios allows VIVO/ TV out to work perfectly on my card! woooT!
