Which particular XT version of Leadtek card do you have ??

Also, haven't yet found a tool that can tell what ns rating a graphic cards memory chips has, however 2.2ns DDR chips are rated at 900MHz, so if you can overclock to this level or beyond, then thats likely what have !

I posted a modded A350XT TDH bios with stocks at 300/450/850 at Guru3D which you should try. Also, you should be able to overclock further with it ?

Jim he has the same card as mine. The Leadtek Winfast A350XT TDH. I gave him both the 860Mhz and 900Mhz RAM BIOSes (both are 450Mhz GPU and Throttling Speeds) you modded for me.

I think maybe he's expecting to see better performance. I'm not quite sure how tho.

Since every card is generally different, even if from same manufacturer, it is actually possible that jaqkar could get more from his particular card, however only if he has previously managed to get appreciably better overclocking of GPU speed than you get.

With an XT type card, only real way to guarantee much better performance is to voltmod it.

At least the modded bios you supplied, give him a good basis to start from !

Linked below, is a very interesting pcstats article on bios flashing of Nvidia and ATI graphics cards, including a "what if it goes wrong" section !

Probably a good grounding for anybody thinking of venturing into the bios moding game !

MODs, or to whom it may concern ?????

Move this thread to the "NVIDIA Legacy Graphics Cards" section, as it does not belong here !!!!

This is a section only aimed at newer 6xxx series of cards !

And not to regurgitate history, but you (mods/admins) should have seen to this when you originally created the two different Nvidia graphics card sections !

Hi all...I'm new here and I saw that here Jimmor is the EXPERT ...then Jimmor I have some questions for you:
I have a Sparkle 5900XT 128Mb. I found a modded (by Red Inferno - VoltMod- Throttling Mod - Latency Mod) bios for my card at this link
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread....0&pagenumber=1

but i found this bios very bad! The frequences are 300/490/730. 490 is too high for my card that go to Throttling mode that is also setting at 490....then games crash! Memory frequency is TOO LOW! I modded my original bios and my memory go at 900Mhz without artifact. I also tried to set latencies as you say but without increase in memory frequency...
Now I have my card setted at 300/450/900 with original latencies and without voltmod!
These are my questions:

1.A sparkle 5900Xt of a group of overclockers goes at 680Mhz( with hardware voltmod at 2.0V... then... to increase core frequency we need a volt-mod...is it possible to have a tension higher then 1,5V that I founded on some modded bioses?

2. My hex memory latencies are these:07 03 0F 03 07 03 0F 03 07 03 0F 03 07 03 0F 03 07 03 0F 03 07 03 0F 03 07 03 0F 43 07 03 0F 03
Why is there that 43???? I changed all to 07 00 0F 40 but without memory frequency increase...

3. How can you have that 530Mhz Core Speed??? I have two 12x12 220V fan on lateral panel of my case that are VERY GOOD! The card is COLD! But at 480Mhz it freeze...I NEED VOLTMOD!

4. What are that Latency setting in the OMNIEXTREMEDITFX 1.3? I have those at
A:68 B:17 C:19 D:11 E:6 F:6
Shall I change them???

I wait you! Thanks in advance!

Settings of all the moded bios's hosted in Infern0 thread at guru3d are based on experience from people who have used them. However as experience has also taught us, all cards are different, even when from same manufacturer. So it is not as easy as just selecting and using any bios originally made for your type of card.

Even although it is huge, if you read the guru3d thread, you would have noticed a caution that people should only try bios's with stock, especially Core and throttling, speeds similar to that already achieved with original bios. A bios can't improve on the quality of the particular GPU chip fitted to any card.

So if you want to try any moded or otherwise bios, then either, use OmniEdit program to, or, manually, edit bios stocks, including throttling, to be similar to max levels your card has previously shown.

Once flashed with new bios, you can now try for better overclocks, especially if new bios has memory latency/timing mods installed !

There are no bios mods to increase GPU volts of a XT card higher than 1.4v. This is only achieved by voltmodding your card directly.

A number of XT bios's have been found one of the memory chip settings at a relaxed latency value. Only possible reason considered for this would be a manufacturers stability fix. Remember the XT card is a different and new design, with diff components and card layout. Using a more relaxed latency on one chip just makes that chip more stable at the set stock speed !

Also changing them all to "07 00 0F 40" was the right thing to do !

Setting all to "07 03 0F 43" gives most relaxed latency and therefore highest overclock, whereas "07 00 0F 40" has been tested to give slightly less than highest, but more performance bandwidth.

Don't do all this bios modding with your eyes and ears closed. Changing parameters in a bios is not about getting highest overclocks, it is about getting best performance !!!

My 5900nu card currently uses a modified/tweaked MSI5950u bios at 300/530/970 and get much better performance than if I set more relaxed parameters allowing levels of 300/530/1020. What I want is performance, not high overclocks just for the sake of having them !

My card, being a 5900nu type, gets 1.55 volts from using a 5950u bios, unfortunately your card needs to be voltmoded to same if you want to run GPU at 530MHz.

By the way, the OmniEdit program is now at version 1.5 !

The latency/timing settings shown in the OmniEdit program are neither correct nor comprehensive enough for best performance from a card. Read my 59xx bios modding guide for the range of binary values that can be changed.

And, only you can find the very best values for your card, since it is your card fitted to your setup. And just like overclocking speeds can be diff for diff cards, then so can best memory timings.

However, basic values to try are shown in my bios moding guide at first post !

Mmm...but some people who has modded some bios has enabled the 1,5 V Option...for example in the bios modded by Inferno for my Sparkle 5900Xt the values are 1,5/1,4/1,2 for 3D/Throt/2d.....but my card crashes with this bios! do you think that this 1,5 Value isn't real??? All bios that are posted at GURU3d Forum are VOLTMODDED at 1,5V..

You obviously haven't read my 59xx bios moding guide at first post properly or my posts at guru3d, because you would have noted that a XT card is hard wired to only give max core volts of 1.4.

The fact that some moded XT type bios's have been set for 1.5v is mainly because in the early days many people wanted to try with diff manufacturers cards/bios's to see what could be achieved.

However, the fact that a XT bios is set for 1.5v doesn't matter to any user, since the bios mod is done in such a way that if it supported then you get 1.5v, otherwise you only get the normal max for a XT of 1.4v. So it is perfectly safe and will do nothing wrong in any XT card. So don't be concerned about it !

Also, any moded bios your card crashes with means either, you have chosen one with speeds much too high for you card, or, your card is just incompatible with that particular bios, or, you are having installaton issues with a bad nvidia driver ???
