Default Re: Basic FX59xxx bios changes

hi, do any of you have a bios that will run an ABIT FX5900 128mb Otes properly, i bought this card second hand and it already had an Winfast FX5950 Ultra bios. I know it sounds crazy, but i would like to use it at original speeds (for the time being anyway). I am getting serious amounts of lost polygons in doom3 and was hoping any of you could help. I must also that i am a newbie with regards to these things and that to ignore me if this post is just f#@k'n irritating.

cheers

Perhaps you could simply underclock your current bios.
OmniExtremeEdit FX v1.5 on http://www.mvktech.net
This tool is perfect for MHz speed editing, but for latency its awful, I use Ray x bios editor for latency.
Its probably your ram. Core overclock causes hangups mostly, memory overclocks cause lost polygons mostly.

Hi, I've got a question.
I wanna do a little gpu vmod (1.4V=>1.5V) on my inno3d fx5900xt(L shape memories). I noticed that none of the xt bioses offer 1.5V(Nibitor 1.7) but some 5900NU does. I know that the 59xx and 5900XT PCB differs. Is it safe to use an NU bios in my card?

From what I've read, requesting 1.5v from a 5900xt is basically going to default to 1.4, since 1.5 isn't supported by the pcb.

jimmor, on my first try with the card I was able to run stable 800 although this was with some pretty old games. However, running with UT2004 gets lots of artifacts at this speed so I'm using your 450/750 bios which is just about acceptable. Core temp seems fine but I no idea what temp the 2.8ms memory might be running at.

I have modded your 450/750 bios to 450/730 to try next. Maybe upping the memory voltage would help, what do you think?

Can't be done with a bios mod !

Only way to increase gpu volts of a XT card beyond 1.4v is to do a hard voltmod to a volts regulator on your card.

The memory chips can take a lot of heat. And the speeds you are currently testing are not going to generate that much heat, so dont worry about it !

Also, only way to up memory volts is with a hard voltmod to your card, and it wouldn't achieve much.

EDIT:

Just for interest, did you ever upload your original bios to Mavke website,

To all interested parties,

Although I have updated the 59xx bios modding guide at the first post to revision 2.3b, you will not find any new tweaks.

Most changes were introduced to correct minor errors, give more clarification to gpu volts selection process and memory latency, and finally to truncate it sufficiently to fit in with most forum max's of 15000 chars per posting.

A bit of personal experience:
2.8ns ram with tight latencies (5900xt) no cooling at all: overheats at 740-770 (or is unstable at)
2.8ns ram with slacker latencies (+/-5900U) no cooling at all: overheats at 770-800
2.8ns ram with slacker latencies (+/-5900U) DHES arctic cooling: overheats at 835-845 (or is unstable at)
