I don't think it's an IRQ conflict. Could you post the output of lspci -vv? And a dmesg after running glxgears? Cheers.

The dmesg is not showing any other things after glxgears.
But here's lspci -vv. I hope someone will find a solution. The Radeon9600 su**** already ... and now this FX5900XT? But i even cannot figure out which hardware could be defect ... |

Hardware Mass Murderer

that shouldn't be it, because the yellow area is just buffers... they only improve performance when they can. the actual used ram is the blue and red together.
now, since you maxed out your buffers you may have been using your swap -- in that case if it's actually using the swap, it might be the problem (for games, i doubt glxgears would be affected). i say get gkrellm2 and see what your hard drive read/write rate is. if it's being used at all (swap partition, not collectively); that might be one of the problems. also, i suggest right clicking on the pannel (task bar), then going to add, and system monitor. this will allow you to tell when swap is being used, and be able to have a 20ms update as opposed to the 2 second update that ksysgaurd uses.

Hmmm i use gkrellm and it shows 633 MB of RAM Free
and SWAP 494 MB of 494 MB Free. Disk Read/Write is very low ... The only thing is see in other Sys Mons is that my Terratic 128PCI Card and my NVidia are BOTH using IRQ 16 ... Don't know if that affects too much. If not my Kernel config and lspci errors (see previous attached) could be the only thing as far as i see ... I recently checked out BIOS Configurations... but i think it's everything allright ... Perhaps my AGP Port is defected ![]() |

Hi,
sharing a interrupt between graka and a soundcard can indeed decrease your fps. Try moving the soundcard to another pci-slot. Your mem is fine. Linux tries to use all available ram for buffers and cache. And if it needs some more, buffer and cache are reduced prior to swapping. Glück Auf Volker |

So it wasn't an IRQ conflict.
Has anyone checked my lspci and Kernel Config? Everything allright? So new question: How to check if AA and AF is de/activated? Perhaps its standard ON. Could be another solution Kernel Config: MTRR = ON (ok?) DRM = ON (ok?) Kernel Debugging = ON (ok? was off before) New Error Message in UT2004 since reformat: zico@linux:~> ut2004 WARNING: ALC_EXT_capture is subject to change! Hi,
you need MTRR, but you MUST NOT have DRM, ok? And this 'Xig..' message is NO error. It was said in this thread and in a bunch of other threads, that this is harmless. Ut2004 asks for a X extension, that is only available on XiG-Xservers (Xfree does not have it, and does not need it), does not get it, and shows this purely informational message. The GLX error is a sign, that your driver-installion is not correct. |
