Mandrake 10 and FX5200 Locks up before x starts

Hiya guys, I have just installed Mandrake 10, and the latest NV drivers. When I try to start x, the system locks up, I don't even have keyboard input, just a blask screen. The system doesn't even have a chance to write to the log file so I have no idea whats going on! i am on my windows box at the mo, so no XF86 Config file I'm affraid, although all I have done is changed the driver name and added load glx. I have tried a few other nv drivers, but same problem each time. i am a noob, so please go easy!Thanks.

You need to tell us about your hardware firstly. Also, boot back into Mandrake using the CDs and change it back to the nv driver so X loads, then you can do some testing.
