Interesting because that's EXACTLY how described my father's A64 rig when I built it a few months ago. He's not a gamer so we only got him an FX5200U, but I tried UT2k3 in it and it just seem so much smoother for some reason than my AXP2600 + TI4400 (GPU I had at the time). I rather suspect it's less about raw speed, and more about the integrated on-die memory controller of the Athlon64.

Yes, I feel Creative is the devil. Look they charge too much for their name, and their drivers aren't that great. Creative was the only way to go back in the day of DOS games and SB16, but that time has passed and the SBLive was an utter disappointment for me when I switched to WinXP and had tons of scratch audio issues, and of course the PCI latency problem. I switched to SantaCruz and everything worked out of the box the way it was meant to be.

Yea I think you're right on that one. AMD has positioned themselves very well with this platform, I hope they can continue to gain market share from Intel in the coming months

If Creative used some type of unified architeture like NV, it wouldn't be so bad. The thing that aggrevated me the most about them is how many variants of the SB16 they made. I can remember rebuilding machines for customers yrs ago, literarily spending hrs just finding the *right* SB16 drivers Those days are over though, onboard sound consumes a majority of the market now.
