I tried the game on my 5950u/9800xt rigs & it runs at an avarage of 50-60fps indoors & in areas with low bodycount , however it dips into 30s in large areas & places wheres much enemy concetration , explosions , lights (like electricity) , particles ..
sometimes it get below 20 fps with multiple light sources in the scene.. like in the Monstery level (where each monk hold a tourch for exmaple) the framerate become really bad for me .. all that @1280x1024 ,2xAA ,4xAF .

i see your benchmarks dosent use AF ?? becuase AF can be an important factor in Pk ... i figured some notable diffrenece in image quality when changed between 2x / 4x / 8x AF samples . ( i have some screen shots for the AF differenece but i cant upload them because each pic takes around 500kb)

thats why i'm interested to see how the 6800 can handle this at even higher resolutions .

I wouldn't worry about jackups skin.
He can handle it, I mean he's just telling folks his findings, and everyone with half a brain appreciates it (especialy folks that really are interested in buying the card).
I don't believe he REALLY GAS what folks say, even though it may aggravate him a bit.

Hey Mike...........I have completed the game. There are some levels in there that are some of the best graphics I have ever seen. When you finally go to Hell lol, you will be in awe of what you see.

*Chuckles*

Seems the petty crap never ends for some. I am glad JaKup is enjoying the card.

@MikeC yes Painkiller is good fun. Play it in short stints and you will enjoy it best. I loved the Asylum level, talk about errie/sick. It can get old trying to figure out the Boss weakness though. Many cases are zero damage til you figure out the 'trick'.

So far I have put Far Cry, Lineage II, SWG, UT2004, Painkiller, and Anarchy Online through the card. My only 'bitch' would be lighting flickering in some areas of SWG. Other than that IQ and game play are first rate.

The idea was that since no one really cared about the superior method of AF filtering on NV3x cards, they'd dumb down to AF dependency aka R300 style. In an interview w/ nvidia (posted on the homepage awhile back) the driver team (I believe it was) was saying how they'd like to put the old method in, for those who wanted the extra quality.

(aka me )

Question Re: My 6800 Ultra

Hey by any chance Jakup can you try to encode a movie into another format? I know of no windows encoders, but have used a couple linux encoders. Anyone know of any good free ones for windows? This might be one, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../default.aspx?

Not a bad game for a mindless shooter - looks good and play fast. I got that sucker running at 2048x1536 on my Mitsubishi 2070SB. I am hoping to still get a X800XT or maybe a 6800 Ultra and give Far Cry a shot at that resolution. At that high of a setting, you don't really need any AA, I just turn on some AF and go at it.

AF was enabled in-game, although there is no option to choose a level such as 2X, 4X, etc.

Is there a big frameratehit when you use a flashlight in Painkiller with the 6800? With my 9800 there's a big hit.
