Oh but we need directX 9.0c first I think. That has shader 3.0
I heard Dx 9.0c is in SP2 for winXP. So who knows when it will be available.

so until that comes out its a vaporware feature

Not zero, but very little, thats true.
But my point is - in the Painkiller demos, they use DX8 - so only 1.1 and 1.4 ASM shaders are used and supported.
2.0 and 3.0 HLSL / ASM shaders are only available in DX9 - Is Painkiller planned for the X-Box? If so, that could explain DX8, like in Deus Ex 2, Thief 3 ....

Thanks Galvin and Jarred for the links. Well muzz, it would be nice if you could at least provide some reasons or facts that support your opinion now that the refernce has been made available that contradicts your opinion. I agree that it sounds a bit glossed over but they know more about it that you or I do.
