I've been running my 5950 Ultra @ 512/1.02 since I got it back in March. At times I have had it up to 560/1.03 without any problems, but that may be pushing it.

You should look around and see what others with your card, or 5950s in general are OCing to, then go for the average. IMO, from my experiences, I'd say a decent OC for your card, while remaining safe for longtime use, would be about 500-525 core / 975-1000 memory. Of course it will also depend the temperatures of the room your computer is in.

I did do manual prior to using auto detect. Highest I could get the core was 517, but would lock up after a few hours. Also, the memory wouldnt go any higher then 983 without artifacts. So in my case, the autodetect worked just about right(511/980) compared to my manual adjustments. Remember, this is an fx 5700 Ultra Im talking about, not an fx 5900(5950)

The autodetect must like to overestimate the capable memory speeds of the 5700 Ultra. The BFG card I have now would auto detect to 524/1.02 GHz. I would get lots of artifacts so I dropped it to 998 MHz and all appears to be well. The core OC has been stable.

No.

The original coolbits, a key that was apparently released by nVidia was the following

Code:

"CoolBits"=dword:00000003

Setting this to dword:ffffffff like I do in CoolBits 2, effectively enables all the hidden panels. By lowering the value you will only be disabling features. For example, setting it to dword:00000002 will give you 'More Direct3D' options but will take away o/c ability.

HI a newbie, and what i see here is a nice addin for Nvidia Forceware drivers but on my end here no OpenGL tab.

Before some of you cry "overkill!", just remember that some folks need visual help at times to clarify.

So, below are some images to show exactly what the value changes (00000000 or 00000001) to this line...

"NvCplEnableAppProfilePage"=dword:00000000

...result in on the NVIDIA Analog Display menu.

I'll just use 0 and 1 to abbreviate.

The line in the coolbits2.reg file is highlighted below

If the value is 1:

If the value is 0: (notice the two changes shown in red)

Also, the Performance & Quality Settings node yields different results.
If the value is 1 Performance & Quality Settings looks like this:

Edit, BTW.. you can create two .reg files (i.e. "coolbits2_old_perf_quality.reg" and "coolbits2_new_perf_quality.reg). This way, you can quickly change between the two without editing that value over and over again.

Hmmm I am now using the 61.45s, but the fan force on box won`t stay checked.

I thought that feature only worked on the 5800 Ultra anyway.
