I've got an issue with the AGP settings...

In my bios, fastwrites are enabled and its set to 8x, however when I look at the agp tab, this is what i'm seeing...

Motherboard is a MSI K8T Neo bios rev 1.6... I'm gonna update it to 1.7, but I don't think it will make a difference

Any ideas? Card is a BFG6800Ultra with 61.71s

Well that was a lesson in why you should create emergency bios disks... thank you MSI for not allowing me to boot off of my sata raid array after "updating" my bios.

Having the card run 3d all the time will yield better performance in 2d, and it stops throttling issues that can slow down gameplay. However, like you say it eats up more power and runs a little hotter all the time. But only by a few degrees.

I take it the new BIOS only made it worse? I have the same thoughts about MSI, and am not particularly fond of them anymore. They do make pretty stable equipment IMO, but I don't like the fact that they limit vCore on my board. The vCore will only go .1v above processor spec and it is stopping me from overclocking this fantastic T-bred 1800+ any further. 1.75GHz is my limit @ 1.6v. I've seen people get these T-bred processor way, way higher in speed on different mobos.

The issue with your board is puzzling to me. Since I do not have a 6800 it is pretty hard for me to tell what the settings should actually be. In particular, the 'max request queue depth'. On my card it is 32 across the board, whereas yours seems to be 256 in the GPU and Optimal categories. The only thing I can recommend right off hand is to try enabling fast writes using RivaTuner in power-user mode. Hopefully this will help. If not, it could possibly be a Windows issue? Anyone else have thoughts on this?

*edit- By the way, have you installed the latest chipset drivers?

Yeah, I'm using the Hyperion 4.51s. I'll be getting a nforce3gb board next week ( I have a K8N Platinum, but I had issues with it and its on its way to rma heaven)

*edit* - well, I tried forcing fastwrites with Rivatuner, didn't seem to work. When I look at the AGP tab in it, it says its all determined by the driver.

Did you try in power user mode? Let me try and give you detailed directions.

1. Open Rivatuner
2. Click the tab on top where it says "Power User". It will prompt you, click 'OK'
3. Scroll down to "RivaTuner 2.0 RC 15 \ AGP" and click the + sign
4. Right-click AGPFW
5. Click the yellow light bulb. This sets the value to 1.
6. click 'OK', and then Reboot

Hmm... you might find this interesting. I have 2 Ultras, 1 from BFG, 1 from PNY. I had an issue with the fan on the PNY so I hadn't used it because I was trying to sort out the fan issue with them. Well I'm waiting for a call back, so I decided to mess with the card some. I temporarily solved my fan problem by removing a screw on the cooler so that the fan wouldn't grind on it and got the card installed.

After applying coolbits2, it said that the card did support Fastwrites. However, the card is unstable after testing with the 61.71s and 62.01s. Even at stock speeds it hard locks my system. Now I have the BFG back in my box and it runs stably, overclocks without complaining and scores just about the same (+/- 50 points or so), but does NOT show fastwrites being enabled.

I'd also like to know if disabling Fastwrites will improve overclocking as it does with most Ati cards. Any ideas?
