I know this subject has been beaten to death here (and no this is not a flame). But does ANYONE kow when GeForce drivers are coming out for Fedora Core 2? I know there are work arounds, but I'd like to stick with the default Fedora Core 2 kernel. Can I expect the driver in days, weeks, or months? I'm still on Fedora Core 1, don't want to update until the driver is released. Thanks in advance...

I can understand your trepidation about installing FC2 and them having to rebuild a new kernel (2.6.6). The last update from Nvidia was January (5336), so they are pretty due for a release.
I guess the only real way to get that information is to Email their support (???) or call them? I would recommend that if you want to stick to the release kernels, you should wait to upgrde to FC2, until after appropriate drivers are released. Also try googling every few days of so for annoucements or check out http://linuxgames.com ( they usually find out pretty quick when there are press/stuff releases ) -s ![]() |

They have not announced the driver and typically do not annouce the driver prior to its release (by any length of time). Your options are to wait patiently or use a workaround. Even if you email them.. you will probably get no release date or even a hint (unless you've got some clout as big purchaser)

It is a shame for nvidia that no developer comes here and shares his thoughts...

Because they would interfere with "business policy". Personally, I'd too favour the "original" Fedora kernel with an official working Nvidia driver, but we saw it with Fedora 1, it takes time So for now... in my opinion, you have three choices: 1) Use the Fedora 2 "nv" driver and wait, 2) Work around with the "8k stacks"-update or 3) Replace the videocard.... hmm.... "silly suggestion" Sayonara! |

I think this coming driver is a biggy, 4kstacks support, pci_subsystem issue and other bugs, alot to do for nvidia and maybe a nice surprise with it.

![]() Hundreds of people are writing on this forum. Over thousands, I believe, are reading it. It would be wise if someone comes and lets us know how the development process goes. That's what I think about how a 'business' should be. We paid a lot for these cards and we deserve to know when we'll be able to use our OWN hardware. |

Nvidia dont do that in the Windows driver forum never mind here and nvidia are not responsable for this forum. Andy of nvidia uses this forum as feedback to nvidia and helps.

I arrived here from a specific link on their official website
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-5336.html You mean, is this a kind of 'dear users, help yourselves' type of forum? They don't reply to emails and I thought this is the place where they answer their customer's questions. |

Is there any place we can write to where they are responsible? |
