DVD 5.1 sound with Nforce2 problem

Hi everyone!!

I have an Asus A7N8X-Deluxe Mobo, with a nforce2 MCP-T chipset, i.e. Soundstorm.

The problem: I can not use the 5.1 sound with DVD's. I have tried several players: Xine, Ogle, mplayer, and every one has problems wih the sound. Xine says "the decide is bussy", ogle can't play and then the sound is muted until I reset te machine, mplayer plays 5.1 very poorly, i.e., with low quality.

I have analog speakers (Creative Inspire 5200). I am using Mandriva (mandrake) 2005, kernel 2.6.11-12 custom (the original from MDK but just changed the CPU to Athlon ), and the 1.0-0301 drivers from Nvidia.

I apreciate any help, even if you say you have no problem at all.

I use A7N8X VM400 boards for testing at work, and I'm pleased when nForce2 audio works at all under Linux. I think I'm still using 2.4 kernels: SuSE 9.x or RHEL3WS9.

Hi!

I managed to configure Ogle to play well the DVD's, but now I have another problem that appears just with the 5.1 sound:
the channels rear left and center are changed. This happens with DVD's (xine, mplayer, ogle), and with DIVx ac3 movies.

¿Does someone know how to fix this?.

I have analog speakers Creative Inspire 5200.

I finally could fix it, but only with ogle, If someone needs it:

In the /etc/oglerc file I changed the positions of center and rear left channels, and now it works great!!!

I can change the channels in mplayer, but the sound quality is bad. Xine won't let me manage the channels.
