Default FC2 + 8k path does not work for me

I'm completely newby to linux (only one week). I have installed 8k patch from www.linuxant.com for my FC2 and I cannot still manage to install the nVidia driver. It keeps telling me something like: "cannot find compatible kernel [something]" and then it says something about gcc incopatibility and quits. I have tried all possible combinations of the installation "wizard" without any success.

I believe that if I spent a couple of hours on it, I would be able to figure it out. But I don't have that time. Please can anybody give me a step by step recipie (even with the kernel compilation).

Thanks

you probably don't have the kernel sources installed
install the rpm called kernel-source-XXX.rpm

XXX is the version number

If you are using the kernel linked to in my sig below, then the default kernel sources will do (kernel-source-2.6.5-1.358). You should copy the config file for the 8kstack kernel from /boot into the kernel source tree, and then make prepare before you install the driver.

# cp /boot/config-2.6.5-1.358.8kstacks /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-1.358
# cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-1.358
# make prepare
