NVidia GeForce FX5200 with Mandrake 10 (2.6.3-7mdk). Help...!
I'm a Linux beginner. You know, I have a NVidia GeForce FX5200 Card with two monitors (SyncMaster 450Nb) running on Mandrake 10 (2.6.3-7mdk) but problem is:
I cannot config my system to display correctly on those monitors (dual mode?). I did download (true???)driver and installed (VNIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run) but when installing setup told "your kernel does not have correct interface with your Graphic Card..." ( hihihii... I don't remember exactly what it said, I just understand this).
Please show me the way to config my system. Thank you in advance!!!
Waiting for your reply.

I too am a linux beginner. Since then I have setup the nVidia drivers in both Mandrake 10 and Red Hat Fedora Core 2.
Basically, you have to make sure you have the kernel-sources for your kernel installed. in a console, type "rpm -q kernel-source". If the kernel source for your kernel is not installed, you will probably have to download it using one of Mandrake's package utilities.
Once you install the sources, your install should go fine. edit your /etc/inittab and change the runlevel to 3, and restart. Login as root and try installing the nvidia driver again.
Once it successfully installs, you'll have to edit your XF86Config-4 document, which can be found at /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. Follow the readme that comes with the nvidia drivers (or off the nvidia site as a text file) and it will tell you what to do in the XF86Config-4 file to enable TwinView and the nvidia driver. good luck!
