Default Xp - Wtb

I'm actually considering finally getting a real copy of XP (shhh.. secret k?).

But I don't want to pay $300 for the retail full version. Does anyone know where I can get a legit copy at a reasonable price? I want to be able to apply XPsp2 when it comes out without having to jump through hoops, and I've used XP for long enough that I feel like I really *should* pay for it.

Suggestions plz??

make friends with a student and get them to buy it for you @ discount prices...

can be in the 15-20 buck range if you are lucky

Newegg has it listed for $141. You have to buy hardware with it, but that can be as simple as a $5 set of blank CDs.

You can buy a license for xp pro on pricewatch for around $80, then just use someone else's cd.

Just a few suggestions
o Second hand copy
o Search the web for best price
o OEM version (usually requires other HW purchase)
o Academic version (requires edu proof)
o Consider Home edition which is cheaper and not missing too many features.

By the way, well done for trying to own legitimate software.
