I didn't want to post this in the MS OS forum....nor in the Linux forum as this thread pertains to all of them....
Let us know which Operating System(s) you are using ( please list which flavor of Linux if you choose it ) and maybe a quick line of why you chose it... ![]() Last edited by pelly; 10-18-02 at 08:49 AM. |

Personally, I am using Windows XP Professional....
I've been extremely impressed with the stability and performance of this OS...Plus, I love the look/feel it has......a polished Win2000.... ![]() |

Hi there Pelly,
Well as with you I am using the WinXPpro edition and I am impressed for the most part. I do wish that the older EA games ran stably but hey we can't have everything.

I think Win2k and WinXP are almost exactly the same, except for a few things:
-XP has a bunch of stuff already installed which makes my life easier for reinstalls or new installs for people (security updates, ie6) -XP has a huge driver database making life easier again -XP is prettier looking, even with the classic windows skin it just looks nicer -XP has better USB support (i don't know, but I found win2k a little problematic with some devices, but with XP they work great) -XP does a couple things a little faster, like bootup but either way, i like them both

Another one here on XP Pro +SP1. I like the interface, fast boots, fast installs of the OS, fast defrags list goes on. I am mainly a gamer, but I do use a little PS7, use internet, email, music, movies etc, and I havent had any major problems at all, oh and I DONT miss those BSOD I used to get with Win98

Both my desktop and laptop are running XP Pro service pack 1, quite stably I might add.
![]() I like XP's interface. It's just as fast or faster than Windows 2000 and 98, far more stable than the latter and more compatible than the former. I honestly can't ask for much more in an operating system. |

Windows XP Corporate
no sp1 for me, I learned after the first time I installed it, I'll stick w/ the hotfixes. One rule I've learned from M$ is nvr install an update unless something is broke.

Currently using Win2k here.
Will install XP soon and pick up a Linux distribution {Mandrake} eventually. |
